Robert G. Williamson, 76, of Bear Lake Township, Kalkaska County, and formerly of Boyne City, died Jul 24, 1997, at his home. 

Friends and relatives are invited to a graveside service at 2 pm Thu, Jul 31 at Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix. The Reverend Kathy Slaughter of the Horton Bay United Methodist Church will officiate. 

Mr. Williamson was born Nov 29, 1920, in Cullman, AL, the son of Reuben G. and Willie Mae (Kierbow) Williamsbon. He graduated from Martha Berry School in Georgia. 

In 1932, he moved to Ohio and in 1943, married Marian Phillips in Akron. They moved to East Jordan in 1948 where he worked as an auto mechanic in Petoskey and helped operate the Rustan Resort in East Jordan. He began working with the Jewel Tea Company where he was employed for 25 years. 

In 1962, he married Mary (Cook) Canell in Grand Rapids. She preceded him in death in October in 1992. 

He also lived in Saginaw and Battle Creek for 10 years, then returned to Boyne City in 1975. He worked for Boyne Mountain from 1976 to 1978 and then for the Boyne City Ace Hardware for 10 years retiring in 1988. 

He has lived in Bear Lake Township, Kalkaska County for the last four years. He was a member of the Horton Bay United Methodist Church, the Disabled American Veterans and worked with Camp Quality (a camp for young cancer patients) in Boyne City for four years during the late 1980s and early 1990s. 

He is survived by his loving companion Zepha Beyer of Kalkaska; his children Edwin (Karen) Williamson of Horton Bay, Robert (Holly) Williamson of Central Lake, Linda (Scott) Brooks of Millington and Cindy Romero of East Jordan; stepchildren Jayne Holley, and Dave Canell; sister W. Regina (Marlin) Neill and brother William (Dorothy) Williamson, both of Akron, OH; grandchildren Brett and Melissa Williamson, Amanda Daniel, Garrett, Nina, and Alison Romero, Jacob and Meghan Brooks. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to Camp Quality, Boyne City, MI 49712. 

Arrangements are being handled by Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix.
