Robert Bair

Robert Bair, 84, peacefully passed away Jul 13, 1998, with his wife and children at his bedside. 

Mr. Bair was raised in Kalkaska County and married Alice Hatley in 1938 at the Pre-Methodist Church on Sharon Rd in Kalkaska County. Their first home was on M-66 just north of Sharon Rd. Bob worked for the CCC in 1938 as a time-keeper. Prior to WWII, Bob and Alice moved to Baltimore, MD, where he worked in the shipyards. They then spent a short time in Bradenton, FL. From there the Bairs moved to Lansing, where they reside to date. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. 

The couple spent their winter months at their home in Ruskin, FL. Their summer months were spent at their Lansing home and their Sharon Road school house in Kalkaska County, where they both attended school in 1928 and later purchased their family cottage. The past annual Perrin School house reunions were hosted by the Bairs at their schoolhouse. 

Bob was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church. He was a GM retiree with 30 years of service. An avid sportsman, he spent many hours with his sons, relatives and friends hunting and fishing. He was the past secretary and treasurer of the Antler Club in Kalkaska. 

He is survived by his wife Alice; children Shelia (Gerald) Moore of St Petersburg, FL, Robert (Monica) and James (Michele) of Lansing, and Laura (Richard) Smith of Haslett; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; sister Marie Sherrod of San Diego, CA, and brother Paul Mosciski of Flint.
