Richard Virgil Receveur, 84, of North Ft. Myers, FL and Kalkaska, died Oct 28, 1998 in Ft Myers, following a short illness. 

Virgil was born Mar 13, 1914 in Louisville, KY, the son of lithographic engraver Clarence Joseph Receveur and wife Margaret Flora Spink. His grandparents are Joseph Amos Receveur and Margrette A. Ward of Louisville, and William Whitsett Spink and Emma Brown of Meade County, KY. 

His great grandparents, Ferdinand Receveur and Josephine Barret, where early Indiana pioneers from D'Arcy, Canton L'isle, Doubs, France, who emigrated during the 1840s to Floyd Co, IN. 

Virgil and his wife Christine moved to Florida in 1971 from Indianapolis, IN, following the downsizing of his employer, a Philips Petroleum subsidiary. 

During WWII, Virgil was a critical skill employee at Bridgeport Brass, which produced ammunition shell casings for the war effort. In subsequent years he was employed by Eli Lilly and Chevrolet. His childhood was spent in Louisville and Covington. The relocation to  Indianapolis occurred during the Depression. 

He will be remembered by those who loved him for this kindness to others, his cheerful disposition and his witty sense of humor. 

Surviving are his wife of nine years, Grace marie Callanan of Kalkaska and N. Ft. Myers, and her daughters Patricia A. (Robert) Stanley and Kathleen J Callanan, both of N Ft Myers; his son Richad Walter (Jennie) Receveur of Ft. Myers Shores, FL; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years, Audrey Christine Williams, originally of Flap Gap, KY who he married in Indianapolis on Sep 15, 1933; brothers Joseph Shirley (Wanda) Receveur of Indianapolis and Gerald John "Jack" (Viola) Receveur of Indianapolis; and grandson Mark Receveur of Ft. Myers. 

Virgil was a member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Ft Myers and St. Mary of the Woods, Kalkaska, and the Knights of Columbus. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church on Oct 31. Interment was a Lee Memorial Gardens next to his first wife, Christine.
