Percy D. Jones, 87, of Williamsburg, died Thursday morning, February 8, 1990, at Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital.
Mr. Jones was a founder and co-owner of Twin Pines Dairy in Detroit, where he worked for 39 years prior to his retirement in 1964. He moved to Elk Lake from the Detroit area following his retirement. He was a member of the Grandale Presbyterian Church in Detroit. He spent many winters in Jensen Beach, Florida where he was president of the volunteer rescue unit. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Mr. Jones was born in Kalkaska County on July 16, 1902, to Delbert and Sadie Schoch Jones. On July 16, 1925, in Plymouth he was married to Ethel M. Long who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Roland P. Jones of Elk Rapids; one daughter, Audrey Lau of Elk Rapids; three sisters, Vera Chamberlain of Three Rivers, Fern Huron of Washington, D.C., and Ina Ellis of Farmington Hills; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Jones, one half brother, Paul Stage, and one sister, Glenn Arndt.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 10, 1990, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Paul M. Karges, pastor of The Peoples Church officiated. Burial was in Garfield Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
