Norman R. Gephart, 82, of Traverse City, formerly of South Boardman, died Wed, May 12, 1999, at Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Mr. Gephart was born in Jackson Township, OH, on Oct 6 1916, to Orville and Ethel VanderSall Gephart. He married Irene Bennett in Clyde, OH, on Jun 29, 1946. She preceded him in death on May 20, 1987.
Mr. Gephart moved to Michigan in 1958 from Fremont, OH. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a former member of the South Boardman American Legion. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a supervisor at Whirlpool Corporation.
Surviving are sons John Gephart of Hawaii and Norman Gephart Jr of South Boardman; daughters Cynthia Lee of Houghton, Rebecca Goodman of Lake City and Julie Kroupa of Traverse City; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter Nancy, son William, and sisters Clara and Mildred.
Funeral services were May 18 at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska; Pastor C. Jay Koehler officiated. Burial was in Boardman Township Cemetery with military rites under the auspices of Land O'Lakes VFW Post 8684.
