Mrs. Minnie L. Hawkins, pioneer residence of Springfield, passed away at the age of 75 yeas, eight months, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Verna Corwin, of Muskegon, on January 31, 1940, having lived with her daughter for four years, following the death of her husband, Wm J. Hawkins.
She was born in Shiawassee county, Michigan, June 8, 1865. in 1866 she moved with her parents to Fife Lake. Surviving are three sons, Olney of Bonnerville, Ore.; Wilbur and William of Muskegon; two daughters, Mrs. Verna Corwin of Muskegon and Mrs. Marie Carney of Toronto, Canada; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Hawkins was a member of the Methodist church. She was of a loving disposition, a kind mother and a true friend and neighbor.
Funeral services were held at Fife Lake Methodist church Saturday afternoon, February 3, with Rev. Miss M. Nash officiating. Burial was beside her husband in Clark Cemetery.
Those from a distance attending the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Corwin, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Hawkins, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hawkins of Muskegon; Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hawkins and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hawkins of Cadillac.
