Mildred C. Slattery (nee Love), 89, of Elyria, died Fri, at Ohio Extended Care Center, Lorain, after a long illness.

She was born in Camden, OH, and had lived 49 years in Grafton before coming to Elyria for two years. She was a telephone operator for the Grafton Telephone Company, for a many years. She was also a telephone operator for Crite Veterans Hospital, Brecksville.

She was a member of the Grafton United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3341, Grafton and the American Legion Post 12, Elyria.

Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Beverly DuHadway of Lincoln Park, MI, Mrs. Thomas (Carol) Blanco of Elyria; sons, Roy E Bittner of Daytona Beach, FL, and Robert E. Bittner of Rocky Mountain, NC; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Roy E. Bittner in 1936; her second husband, Walter Slattery in 1976; a daughter, Grace Crandall; a son, Marvin G. Bittner, and by a brother, Claude E. Love

Friends may call at the Bauer-Laubenthal-Wainwright Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge and Route 57, Elyria, Sun 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Services will be held Mon at 10:30am in the funeral home. The Rev. Richard E. Wallace, pastor of the Grafton Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Camden Cemetery, Kipton.

Memorial contribution if desired, may be made to the Animal Protective League or the Grafton United Methodist Church.
