Mary Margaret Slentz, of Winchester, passed away on Tue, Dec 24, 2013 at the St Vincent Randolph Hospital in Winchester.

She was born on Feb 16, 1919 in Montgomery County, the fourth of five children, to Robert and Ellen Johnston. She retired from Overmyer Mould Co in Winchester after 28 years of service in the payroll, cost and accounting departments. She was a 50 year plus member of the First United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Rebecca Circle. She also was a volunteer at the St Vincent Randolph Hospital and belonged to the Chapter of Classy Old Broads of the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice Fisher Botkin of Winchester; a step daughter, Sheila Diane (Robert) Brown of Dunkirk ; a sister, Martha Ellen Slavens of Chesterton; a sister in law, Dorothy (James) Jones of Hartford City; 5 step grandchildren, James Douglas (Jennifer) Botkin, Cathy Botkin Patterson, Robert (Dr. Gail) Brown, Debra Brown, Julie (Stu) Brown-Kuchel; 6 step great grandchildren, Tracey (Brent) Davis, Missy Martin, Brendon (Krista) Botkin, Jeremiah (Melisa) Patterson, Jamie (Matt) Hale and Amanda Shinn; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Arthur Slentz, a son in law, James Botkin; a step daughter, Rosemary Shinn; two sisters, Phoebe Geiger and Katherine Beckelheimer; a brother, Norman Johnston; two sisters in laws, Vivian Quisenberry and Marjorie Slentz; and two brother in laws, Paul Slentz and Albert “Jack” Slentz.

Funeral services will be held on Sat, Dec 29, 2013 at 2 pm at Walker Funeral Home in Winchester with Pastor Rob Butler officiating. Entombment will follow in Fountain Park Cemetery.

Friends and relatives may call from 6 to 8 pm on Friday at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church, 313 S Meridian St, Winchester, IN 47394 or to the donor’s choice.
