Martha L. Long, age 91, surrounded by her daughters went home to be with her Lord Sun, Sept 9, 2007. She was born Sept 19, 1915 to Elisha and Laura (Murray) Chopson. Martha graduated from High School and soon after married Donald Long. Together they made their home in Marion where they owned and operated a dairy farm. They raised their four daughters and after 25 years on the farm they moved to Chippewa Lake. Their last home together was in Remus. Donald preceded Martha in death on May 5, 1997. Martha has been a faithful member of the United Methodist Church all her life.
She is survived by her loving family whose members include; Donna (Dale) Boarders of Lake Isabella, Carole (Dean) Floria of Remus, Ruth (Robert) Spanogle of Indianapolis, IN, Linda (Patrick) Birtles of Cadillac; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; a brother, Marshall (Christine) Chopson of Taylor, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in deth by a brother, Daniel Chopson and three sisters, Clara Schmidt, June Chopson, and Irma Dean Kovarik.
Funeral services will take place noon Wed, Sept 12 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Rev. Dave Price officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home Tue from 7-9pm and one hour prior to service on Wed.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Marion.
