Marshall "Dean" Elkins Sr., 55, of Mancelona and formerly of Kalkaska passed away suddenly on Thu, Feb 9, 2006, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Born on Apr 15, 1950 in Traverse City, Elkins was the son of Cecil and Phillis (Smith) Elkins.
Dean was a veteran, serving our country in the US Army during Vietnam. He was a resident of Mancelona since 1991, moving from Kalkaska.
Dean enjoyed working in the woods as a logger, camping, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing practical jokes on the family.
Dean is survived by his wife, Katherine (Rice) Elkins, of 25 years; children, Randy Dean Elkins of Traverse City, Angela Rice of Mancelona, Keith Scott Elkins of FL, Marshall "Dean" Elkins Jr. of Mancelona, Sara Jane (TJ) Morse of Mancelona; 11 grandchildren; mother, Phillis Elkins of South Boardman; sisters, Cinda Snell of South Boardman, Carol Elkins of Kenton, OH, and Tina (Gary) Tracey of South Boardman.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Elkins; daughter, Vicki Ann Elkins; and a sister, Nelda Schaub.
A memorial service was held Sat, Feb 11, at the Mancelona Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Ross Corne officiating.
