Margaret Lucille Reiter

BIRTH: 07 Feb 1944 New Baltimore, Macomb, Michigan

DEATH: 03 Jan 2020 Traverse City, Grand Traverse, Michigan

Margaret Lucille Reiter, age 75, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully on Fri, Jan 3, at Samaritas Senior Living with family by her side. Margaret was born on Feb 7, 1944 in New Baltimore to Carl and Dorothy (Harrington) Reiter.

Margaret graduated from Armada High School. She lived in Lincoln Park for many years. Margaret proudly worked for Frito Lay (PepsiCo) and retired in 2004 after 25 years of loyal service.

Margaret was a dedicated fan of anything NASCAR and enjoyed making friendly wagers on the races with family members. She always picked Tony Stewart or Dale Earnhardt Jr. to cross the checkered flag first. With her companion, Neal Perlick, Margaret regularly attended short dirt track races at Flat Rock Speedway, where she reveled in the excitement and mingled with the regulars. Margaret was a talented baker and enjoyed creating elaborate cakes for family, friends, and people in her community.

Throughout the past six years, Margaret resided at Noble Pines in Elk Rapids, where she looked forward to game nights, conversations and laughter with her neighbors and friends.

Above all, Margaret was fiercely devoted to her family and never hesitated to put her own needs behind those of others. She shared a special bond with each of her siblings and treated her beloved nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Margaret's ability to make others feel uniquely special and unconditionally loved will never be forgotten.

Margaret is survived by her brother and sister in law, Conrad (Adele) Reiter, of Elk Rapids; nieces and nephews, Tim Hensley, Todd (Julie) Hensley, Jodie (Patrick) Calloway, Bobbie Jo (Joe) Brown, Michael Reiter, Stephanie Frase, Ryan (Kelly) Reiter and Erin (Brett) Graham; and many great-nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Margaret was preceded in death by her loving parents; siblings, Helen Hensley and Karl "Butch" Reiter; brother in law, Gary Hensley; and her faithful, furry companion, Maxie.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the chapel at Samaritas Senior Living in Williamsburg, with the Rev. Howard Harvey officiating, on Mon, Jan 6, at 1 pm. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.

Margaret's family would also like to acknowledge the incredible staff at Samaritas and Heartland Hospice for the compassionate care and support which they have provided.
