Margaret A. Bateman, Houghton Lake, died Thu, Sep 28, 1989 at Tolfree Memorial Hospital in West Branch following a brief illness. She was 81. She was born Dec 14, 1907, the daughter of Fredrick and Augusta Michaelson. She married William R. Dunlap of Decker in 1929. He died in 1946. She married James Bateman in 1948, and he preceded her in death in 1986. She lived most of her adult life in Sanilac County until she moved to the Houghton Lake area in 1979. She was a member of the Houghton Lake Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Dunlap of Chula Vista, CA; one granddaughter, Mrs. Eric (Renee) Norling and one great granddaughter Erika Renee Norling, both of Santa Clara, CA; two sisters, Rhoda Ringer of Florida, and Golide Klopotic of Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. One son William Theodore Dunlap preceded her in death in 1985. She was also preceded in death by five infant children in earlier years. Funeral services were Oct 2 at Christler Funeral Home in Houghton Lake with Elder Emmet Bigford, pastor of the Houghton Lake Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating. Burial was in Roscommon Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the RLDS Temple Fund.
