Loretta D Johnson, age 91, of Greenville, passed away Friday evening, Jun 15, 2018 at The Laurels of Kent in Lowell. The daughter of William & Esther (Ayers) Taylo0r, she was born on Jul 22, 1922 in Traverse City.
On Oct 12, 1947, in Traverse City she married DeVitte J Johnson and together they raised two children, celebrated 55 years of marriage, and enjoyed square dancing, traveling, and camping. Loretta was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed embroidery, needlework, and other handicrafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, DeVitte “De” Johnson, on Mar 23, 2003; several brothers and sisters; a daughter in law, Diane Johnson; and a grandson, Timothy J Fancett. Surviving are a son, Al Johnson of Freeport; a daughter, Nina Wallace & Randy Chipman of Fenwick; four grandchildren, Courtney & Matthew Duffy, Stacy & Lonnie Jackson, Tiffany & David Court, and Valerie & Josh Matzen; fourteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Wed at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin St, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Thu. Loretta’s nephew, Jerry Essex will officiate and burial will take place privately at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
