Leona, 80, of St. Louis, formerly of Mt Pleasant and Alma, passed away, Tue, Nov 11, 2014 at Schnepp Care and Rehab Center. She was the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy (Merrill) Chaffee.
She was a graduate of Mt Pleasant High School and spent many years working as a housekeeper.
Leona was a member of Faith First Church in Alma and remained devoted to her God. She enjoyed sharing her faith whenever possible, especially through her cookie ministry and Bible study groups. She enjoyed painting and was a past member of the Alma Art Guild. Leona loved children and spent many hours caring for them in the church nursery and mentoring them through art. She enjoyed walking and singing.
She is survived by three children, Debra Goodboo of Alma, Donald Silvers of Alma and William (Kathleen) Silvers of Ithaca, and their father, Don Silvers of Mt. Pleasant, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, special friend, Adrien LeMarble and special caregivers, Dara Fisher and Tammy Kench.
She was preceded in death by parents, two brothers, Charles and Donald Chaffee and two sisters, Gladys Hall and Loretta “Dode” Price.
A memorial service was held on Sun, Nov 16, 2014 at Faith First Church in Alma with Pastor Carl Cecil officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith First Church or Schnepp Senior Center.
