Leo A. Scheffler, 82, of Alden, died Sun, Oct 18, 1998, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire. 

Mr. Scheffler resided in Corunna until 1984, when he moved to Alden. He was a graduate of Michigan State University, and taught agriculture in the New Lothrop Public Schools. 

An Army veteran of WWII, he was a member of the VFW, Elk Rapids Masonic Lodge, and affiliated with the St. Paul Lutheran Church. His hobbies included woodworking, dancing, gardening, and traveling. 

Born in Antrim County on Jul 8, 1916, he was the son of Herman and Daisy Senn Scheffler. On Jul 15, 1946 in Traverse City, he was united in marriage with Eunice Kilpatrick, who survives. 

Besides his wife, he is survived by daughters Carolyn (Robert) Burrus of Otisville, Luella Hilden of Owosso, and Dorothea (Walter) Pilkons of Peabody, MA; brother Ernest Scheffler of Traverse City; sister Evangeline Innis of Alden; and grandchildren Rob Burrus, Leo Hilden, David Hilden, Holly Hilden, Paula Hilden, Tonia Washburn and Jennifer Washburn; and step grandchildren Stephen Pilkons and Sandra Pilkons. 

Brothers Paul and Louie preceded him in death. 

Friends may call at the Wolfe Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Wednesday. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thu, Oct 22 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska. Rev. Ted Turanski will officiate. Burial will be in Excelsior Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County. 

Memorial gifts may be directed to St Paul Lutheran Church.
