Lee J. “LJ” Steed, 52, of Traverse City, died Sat morning at Munson Medical Center as a result of an automobile accident.
A lifelong resident of the Traverse City area, he was the road construction supervisor for M & M Excavating Co. of Gaylord. He had been employed with Schworm Inc. of Traverse City for 20 years. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed hunting and wood working.
Born in Buckley, on Jun 18, 1938, he was the son of Stanley and Helen (Newmarch) Steed Sr. On Feb 15, 1958, in Traverse City, he married the former Dolly Raymond who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Michelle Tvardek of Grawn and Jan Kelly of Interlochen; a son, Dave Steed of Interlochen; his parents, Stanley and Helen Steed Sr., a sister, Sally Lewis and a brother, Stanley Steed Jr., all of Traverse City; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 pm Tue at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, where friends may visit from 1 pm until time of services. The Rev. Edwin Frederick will officiate.
A wake to celebrate his life will be held at 1pm Sun at Bendon Eagles Aerie No. 3503.
