Lavern A "Bud" Scherf, 79, of Mancelona, passed away Oct 14, 2001, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. He was born on Jun 1, 1922 in Fremont, OH, to Lavern and Ethel (Mittan) Scherf.
Mr. Scherf married Mary K (Sue) Rowe on Sep 9, 1967. He was a United States Army veteran. He worked repairing clocks and especially enjoyed antique clocks. Bud and Sue moved from Marblehead, OH to Mancelona in 1987.
He is survived by sons, Lavern E (Dell) Scherf and Patrick G (Sherry) Scherf of Albuquerque, NM, Thomas L (Sondra) Scherf of Las Vegas, NV, and Frank K (Kary) of Phoenix, AZ; daughters, Nancy A. Martin-Scherf of Henderson, NV, jeanne S Scherf of Albuquerque, NM, and Norma S Chase of Toronto, Canada; 20 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sue, in 1994, and his parents and sister Maribelle Ayers.
The funeral service will be held at 10 am Oct 18 (today) at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials may be made on behalf of Bud Scherf to Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
