Kenneth “Kenny or Bud” Wayne Bennett, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 3:50 pm Sat, May 30, 2015 at Bridgewater Centre.

He was born in Hartford City on Dec 13, 1925 to Bert Bennett and Ethel G (Willman) Bennett-Dutro. Both parents preceded him in death.

Kenny graduated from Hartford City High School in 1944. He served in the US Army Air Corps where he was a radar operator on AB 24 Liberator. He was stationed in Hawaii.

He married Helen Maxine (Lanning) Bennett on Oct 31, 1959 at First Christian Church in Hartford City.

Kenny retired from Warner Gear in 1974 after 30 years of service and he also owned and operated Bennett’s Antique and Rock Shop in Hartford City from 1950 until present. He taught Lapidary, which is learning to cut and polish rock.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Hartford City; Masonic Lodge, Blackford County #106 F&AM; Scottish Rite Fort Wayne Valley; DAV, where he was formerly the Chapter 13 State Commander; and 50 year member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.

Kenny will be sadly missed by his wife, Helen Benett of Hartford City; daughters, Sandra S Willmann of Hartford City; Lora Kay Woods of Hartford City; Denise Lynn (husband, Dave) Schull of LaGrange, IN; sons, Ronnie D (wife, Beth) of Naples, FL; Larry (wife, Marge) Bennett of Muncie; Richard M Yount of Palm Springs, CA; his grandchildren affectionately known as Charlie and Gertrude, Eddie (wife, Michelle) Mattson, James Bennett, Jeremiah Shull, Krista Bermeo, Rhonda R Atkins, Ryan Scott Bennett and Tonetta Mattson; 15 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; brother, Arland D (wife, Nancy A) Bennett of Hartford City; sister, Marilajean (husband, Jim) Smith of Melbourne, FL; cousin, Pat Majerle of Terre Haute; good friend, Lynn Munger of Freemont, IN; several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandchildren, Debbie Camron, Keith Bennett, Nathan Shull, Steven Hummer and sister, Lorraine Bowman.

Funeral service will be at 11 am Sat, Jun 6, 2015 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St, Hartford City, with Pastor Chris Neel officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Muncie, IN.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm Fri, Jun 5, 2015 and from 9 to 11 am Sat, Jun 6, 2015 at Keplinger Funeral Home.
