Kenneth R. Vowels, 63, of Rapid City, died Sat, Jun 22, 1996, at his residence.
Mr. Vowels resided in Missouri until moving to Kalkaska County in 1975. He retired from U & I Tank Rental in 1993, and was a member of the Kalkaska Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and enjoyed gardening.
Born in Richland County, IL, on Jun 5, 1933, he was the son of Donald and Lottie Treece Vowels. On Nov 14, 1954, in Laguna Beach, CA, he married Betty Westall who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Connie) Coon of Kalkaska and Mrs. Frank (Karon) Grober of AL; his mother Lottie Vowels of Sumner, IL; two brothers James Vowels and Lyle Vowels both of Kalkaska; two sisters, Iris West of ID, and Nona Vowels of IL and four grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tue, Jun 25, 1996 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Lyle Seltmann and Rev. Thomas Kargarise officiated.
Burial was in Grand Traverse Memorial Garden Cemetery in Traverse City.
