Keith D. Schwartz, 83, of Traverse City, died Jan 23, 1999, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Born Jan 7, 1916, in Boon, he was the son of Aaron and Emma (Celmir) Schwartz. On Sep 10, 1950, he married Betty L Arndt, who survives.
Keith was a retired funeral director and former owner of the funeral home in Kalkaska and was a resident of the Traverse City area since moving from Kalkaska in 1969, when he retired. He was a graduate of Wayne State University with a degree in Mortuary Science.
He was a U.S. Army medic in WWII, serving in Africa and Italy. Keith was a past president of the Kalkaska Rotary Club.
Surviving besides wife Betty are daughter Debra (John) Richter and son Jeffrey (Kim) Schwartz, both of Ada; brothers Kermit (Merle) Schwartz of Mesick and Kerchel (Marlene) Schwartz of Hesperia; grandchildren Todd (Michelle) Richter of Grand Rapids, and Kristin Richter and Keith and Kendall Schwartz, all of Ada; and great grandson Matthew Richter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held Jan 26 at the Reynolds-Jonkoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
