Kathleen Margaret “Kathi” Raftery, age 74, of Bad Axe, MI, passed away Sun, Apr 10, 2022 at home following a long illness.
She was born on Sep 28, 1947 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Lloyd A and Dorothy M (Kaufmann) Olson. She married Dave Raftery on Feb 2, 1982.
She Dave and their family have lived in Bad Axe for the last 45+ years. Kathi graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1965 and Bronson Nursing School in 1968, and served as an RN in the ICU then Ambulatory Surgery/ Director of Huron County Hospice Care at Huron Memorial Hospital/ McLaren Thumb Region Hospital then Compliance and Credentialing until retiring 9 years ago.
Kathi enjoyed painting ceramics, traveling, and watching ice dancing.
Surviving are her husband, Dave Raftery of Bad Axe; three sons, Kevin Curtis of Bad Axe, Brian (Pam) Curtis of Auburn Hills, MI and Scott (Julie) Curtis of South Bed, IN; step children, Chad (Amanda) Raftery of Merrill, Tammy Raftery-Winter (Angela) of Jackson; brother Gary (Melanie) Olson of Lake Orion; nine grandchildren and many nieces.
Kathi was incredibly well respected as a hard-working, healthcare professional who cared deeply about her family and patients, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A service will be held on Fri, Apr 15, 2022 at 11 am at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Visitation will be held on Thu, Apr 14, 2022 from 2 to 8pm or Friday from 10 am until the service time at 11 am all at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made in her honor to Compassus Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
