Kathleen "Kay" Edith Phelps Hallberg, 95, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Sun, Sep 24, 2006 in Kalkaska.
Born on Aug 21, 1911, in Mancelona, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Edythe (Parmelee) Phelps.
Kay was a nurse for her entire working career. She was employed by Medical Care Facility in Traverse City until retirement. Kay was a longtime resident of Traverse City.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanne Kay Bufe of Traverse City and her children, Mike (Susan) Bufe of Traverse City, Kathleen (Robert) Bartlett of ME, Pamela (Edward) Neuman, and Melissa (Brian) VanAlstine-Rose, all of TX; son Richard (Nancy) Hawley of Grand Rapids and his children, Diane, Gayle, Sandy, and John, all of Grand Rapids; several great grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Spalding of Rockford, Alice (Lowell) Babcock of Kalkaska; and brother, William (Joanne) Phelps of Kalkaska.
Kay was preceded in death by her siblings, Lucile Smith, Eleanore Phelps, Jean S B Phelps, and Marion Phelps; and her son in law, Robert W Bufe.
A funeral service was held on Wed, Sep 27, at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bruce VanDussen officiating of the Fife Lake Baptist Church.
Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery.
