June Marian Nickell passed away on Mon, January 16, 2012, at the age of 78.
She was born in Clio to Milford and Ethel Blakley on Jun 16, 1933. She attended school in Clio until the family moved to Whittemore in 1944. She then attended school in Whittemore.
June married Alvin Henry Nickell in 1949. Together they had three boys, Lewis, Henry, and the late Terry.
June worked in various places in the area. She enjoyed gardening, baking, crocheting, collecting antiques, especially salt and pepper shakers, as well as picking berries and mushrooms. She always had some sort of goodies along with a recipe to share with visitors to her home. She loved to spend time with family and friends.
June is survived by her husband, Alvin Henry Nickell of Turner; sons, Lewis (Teresa) Nickell of Prescott and Henry (Linda) Nickell of Tawas; brother, Bill (Lila) Blakley of Standish; grandchildren, Lewis Bedford, Bridget (Mark) Barr, Milford Bedford, Penny (Dori) Curtis, Miechon (Micah) Jordan, Justin Nickell, Sande (Jim) Sloan, Belinda (Dan Robb) Soults, and Matthew Bain; and many great grandchildren and wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was predeceased by her beloved infant son, Terry; father, Milford Blakley; mother, Ethel Blakley; sister, Marge White, and brother Harold Blakley.
Visitation for Mrs. Nickell will be held from 3 to 8pm Wed, January 18, 2-8pm. Thu, January 19 from 10 -11am. Fri, January 20 at CL Forshee & Sons Funeral Homes Inc, Twining Chapel Services will be held at 11 am Fri, at CL Forshee & Sons Funeral Home, Twining Chapel, with Greg Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Saints Cemetery, Whittemore.
