Joseph J. Kovarik, 71, of Kalkaska, died Tuesday, November 14, 1989, at Munson Medical Center.
Mr. Kovarik retired as a woodsman and sawmill employee, and moved to Kalkaska 29 years ago where he made his home with Anna Kill. He enjoyed gardening.
He was born in Leelanau County on March 25, 1918, ,to Jacob and Blanche Viskochil Kovarik.
Surviving are two brothers, Jack Kovarik of Grand Rapids and Arthur Kovarik of Mancelona; one sister, Mary Sherriff of Mancelona; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov 18, 1989, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Scott Rhoades, pastor of the New Life Assembly, officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
