Joseph J. Jeska, 56, a longtime resident of the Kalkaska and Fife Lake areas, died Wednesday evening, August 16, 1989, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. 

Mr. Jeska was employed by Wayne Wire Cloth Products prior to his retirement, and had served in the U.S. Air Force. He had been very active in the National Trout Festival, and enjoyed handicrafts. 

Mr. Jeska was born in Kalamazoo on Dec. 3, 1932, to Benny and Dorothy Farnham Jeska. On Feb. 11, 1961, in Mancelona, he was married to Joyce Miller who survives. 

Also surviving are two sons, Mark Jeska of Cadillac, and Aaron Jeska of Lake City; three daughters, Mrs. Virgil (Sarah) Rauschenberg of Mancelona, Esther Jeska of Cadillac, and Linda Crothers, also of Cadillac; two sisters, Margaret Weaver of Fife Lake and Mary Ann Greathouse of Mason; and 11 grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Dr. James Moody, pastor of the Fife Lake Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
