Joseph C. O’Connell, 81, of Saint Johns, passed away Apr 17, 1999 at his home. He was born Mar 8, 1918 in Hubbardston, the son of Daniel and Emma M. (Rocky) O’Connell.
He married Mae A. Snyder Jun 10, 1944. They remained married until her death August 1, 1978.
He was a lifetime employee of General Motors, retiring in 1982 after 35 years of service.
Surviving are his three daughters and four sons, Diana Schoemann of FL, Terry (Sally) O’Connell of Perry, Bryan (Chris) O’Connell of Ithaca, Loretta (Bob) Bowling of FL, Eric (Marlyn) O’Connell of St. Johns, Neal (April) O’Connell of Middleton, and Lisa (Marty) Lorkin of St. Johns; his brother, Tom O’Connell; his sister, Rosie Rademacher; 25 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special daughter-in-law, Barb O’Connell. He will be sadly missed by his special friend and companion, Margie Marfin. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Apr 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Robideau officiating. Burial was at Mount Rest Cemetery.
