John J. Koch, 71, of Kalkaska, a Christmas tree grower, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1989, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Mr. Kock moved to Kalkaska County following his retirement as a Detroit Police Officer.
He was born in Detroit on April 6, 1918, to Peter and Lottie Pitalewski Kochalski. He was married on Oct 26, 1940, in Detroit to Sally M. Pruss who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Robert Koch of Chino Hills, CA; one daughter, Nancy Samalis of Minneapolis, MN; one brother Joseph Krolik of South Boardman; three sisters, Celia Grownow of Brighton, Clara Grass of Lake Orion, and Marian DeRoo of South Boardman; and two granddaughters.
One sister, Dorothy Bartnick, preceded hi in death.
A memorial Mass was celebrated Friday, Nov. 24, 1989, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Father Patrick J. Barrett officiated.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Leukemia Society of America.
