Jerald M. Ponder, 81 of Mancelona, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2008 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born on September 29, 1927 in Halfway, the son of the late Mitchell and Grace (Hummel) Ponder.
Jerald is the loving father of Joseph (Rebecca) Ponder of Florida, Jerald Ponder of Eastpointe, David Ponder of Mancelona and Renea (Arthur) Garton of Shelby Twp; the devoted grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and cherished brother of Bill (Barbara) Ponder of Kalkaska.
Jerald was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Ponder. Jerald was a resident of Mancelona since 1989 moving from New Haven. He retired from Michigan Bell Telephone after working for 42 years. Jerald enjoyed the "great outdoors" and his family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28th from 2:00 until 8:00 pm at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home in Kalkaska. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor William Kuiper of the Evergreen Bible Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Coldsprings Township Cemetery.
