Jeanette Higgins (Atkins) King of Kalkaska, beloved mother and grandmother, as well as the devoted wife of Jack King, departed this earth on Apr 2, 2003, at Norwood Hospital in Mobile, AL.
Jeanette was born to Eugene and the late Alma (Simpson) Atkins on Nov 4, 1934, in Vassar. She married Bob Jones in 1953 and started a family with him in 1955. They had five loving children together.
In 1997, Jeanette retired from Lapeer Regional Hospital after 27 years of dedicated service as a respiratory therapist.
Jeanette and Jack traveled between homes in Kalkaska and Gulf Shores, AL. In retirement, they enjoyed their time together visiting with friends and family.
Jeanette is survived by her husband Jack; children, Jeff (Ann) Jones of Vassar, Rob Jones of DeSoto, TX, Dan Jones of Davison, Susan Beckman of Ada, and Heather (Paul) Rossler of Sand Springs, OK; father Eugene Atkins of Vassar; and sister, Barbara (Bruce) Barr of Boynton Beach, FL. She is also survived by 12 loving grandchildren who will cherish the memory of their grandmother forever. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her greatly.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Atkins, and her brother, Thomas Atkins.
She has touched the lives of many and will forever be missed in our hearts.
A memorial service is being planned for June.
