Jane Shafer, 71, of Kalkaska, died Dec 11 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. She was born on Jan 23, 1930, in Warsaw, IN to Charles W and Velma (Osborn) Ross.
She married Richard D Shafer on Sep 11, 1948, in Warsaw. They lived there until 1982, when they moved to Kalkaska. Jane loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of CETA, Kalkaska Senior Citizens Center, and the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Auxiliary.
She is survived by sons Charles R (Diana) Shafer and Bill R. (Rita) Safer, both of Kalkaska, and Tony L Shafer of Traverse City; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard in 1989.
Visitation was Dec 13 at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. The funeral service was held on Dec 13. Dan Johnson, pastor of the Kalkaska Church of Christ, officiated. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery.
