Army Sgt. James W. Longyear, 22, of 15 Church St., husband of the former Pamela Brown, died unexpectedly Tuesday at Walter Reed Hospital, Washington D.C.

Services will be at 9:30 am Saturday at Scott and Mann Funeral Directors here and at 10 am in St. John’s Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Weedsport.

Calling hours will be 7 to 9 pm Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Friday at the funeral home, 234 N. Main St.

 A life resident of Port Byron, he was stationed at Fort Riley, Kan.

Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Christie; a son Michael; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Winford K Longyear of Port Byron; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Roberts of Mason, MI, and Mrs. Leonard Thomas of Bevera, CA, a brother, Kenneth of Port Byron; a stepsister, Lori Greathouse of Port Byron; four stepbrothers, Michael, Martin, David and James Greathouse of Port Byron, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Anna A. Longyear of Auburn.
