James Wallace Baldwin, age 83, of Adrian, died on Friday, December 30, 2016, at the Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home. He was born December 31, 1932, in Adrian to Hollie and Alice LaVonne (McGeorge) Baldwin. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956, working as a boom operator for the Air Refueling Squadron. He married Beverly Hillard on May 27, 1967, in Adrian, and she survives.
Jim was employed in management with Sears for 30 years, retiring in 1989, and then as a Realtor, retiring in 1995. He was a member , former deacon and elder of the First Christian Church; member of the State Employee Retirement Association; former member of the Optimist Club, serving as President for two years; former member of the Linos Club; former board Member of Hospice of Lenawee, was a Direct Care Volunteer for over 30 years and member of the Volunteer Education Committee. Jim recently was awarded his 30 year pin for being a Hospice Volunteer. He was a member of the board of directors of TLC Community Credit Union, serving as secretary. Along with is wife, Beverly, he was awarded the 1991 Service to the Community Award by Gleaners. In 2003 they were nominated for Citizen of the Year for Lenawee County.
In addition to his wife, Beverly, he is survived by a brother, William Baldwin of Milan; two sisters, Dorothy Cole of Adrian and Sandra (Larrie) Baker of Wolverine, Michigan; a brother-in-law, Dean Crafts; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Larry, Don, and Robert; and a sister, Shirley Crafts.
Funeral services for Jim will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastor Linda Farley of the First Christian Church officiating. To be followed by Full Military Rites conducted at the funeral home by the American Legion Post #97 and V.F.W. Post #1584 Annis-Fint. Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, Hospice of Lenawee or the charity of the donor’s choice.
