James S. Aneff, Sr., 78, of Adrian, a summer resident of Alden, died Thursday, September 20, 1990, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mr. Aneff lived his early life in the Battle Creek area, and was a member of the first high school All State Championship swimming team. He attended Wayne State University, Battle Creek College, and earned his masters degree from Michigan State University. He studied at Valparaiso University under the National Foundation Grant. He taught math in the Adrian Public Schools prior to his retirement in 1973. Following his retirement, he spent his winters in Abilene, Texas.
Mr. Aneff was born in Battle Creek on April 5, 1912 to Samuel and Dorothy Petcoff Aneff. He was married in 1938, to Pearl Knox in Abilene, Texas, who preceded him in death in 1964. On August 10, 1965, in Traverse City, he was married to Margaret Jeffers, who survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, James Aneff, Jr. of Abilene, Texas; two sisters, Mary Doerr of Battle Creek, and Nettie Kudlata of Cicro, Ill.; and one grandson.
Graveside services were held at 1 P.M. Monday, September 24, 1990, at Masonic Cemetery in Abilene, Texas under the direction of North Funeral Home.
