James Edwin Sanderson, Jr, 74, of Rapid City, died Fri, Apr 29, 2011 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center of Kalkaska. Jim was born in Ypsilanti on Dec 23, 1936, the son of James and Virginia (Kruse) Sanderson.
He married Olga Lee Owens on Aug 21, 1961. He married Marjorie Louise Dunn in Miami, FL on Feb 4, 1996. Jim worked as a fireman, owned Rapid River Motel, and worked with Kalkaska County Corrections, but his passion was woodworking. He was a Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Marjorie; sister, Sharon Marrs of Belleville; children, James (Patricia) Sanderson III of Freeland, Cheri (Doug) Ashley of Cedar Springs; step children, Patricia Rahn of Lewiston, Kathy (Dale) Frederick of Detroit and Barb (Mike) Carlisle of PA; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Kelsey Mae Knoll.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm, Thu, May 19, 2011 at Kalkaska Funeral Home, Kalkaska. Funeral services will be held 11 am, Fri, May 20, 2011 at M-72 Church of Christ, Kalkaska. Burial to follow at Kalkaska Evergreen Cemetery.
