On May 10, 2020, Jack Rawlings passed away at his home in Kingsley, surrounded by his family.
Jack was a graduate of Kingsley High School, class of 1951 and attended Northwestern Michigan College in its inaugural semester. A proud veteran, Jack joined the Navy in 1952, serving as a trainer for aviators.
Jack is mourned by his wife of 63 years, Donna Mae (Pierce); children, Tamie Rawlings-Richard (Pete Richard) and Steve Rawlings (Tammy Bach); Jack will be deeply missed by his treasured grandchildren, Ellie Rawlings, Lilly Rawlings, and Kyle (Nicole) Worthing; he also shared a special bond with his great-grandchildren, Lydia, Layla, Jakson, and Jakobi.
Jack is survived by his siblings, Jean Lewis, Frank (Doris) Rawlings, Karen (Richard) King, Jim (Judy) Rawlings; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Kendra Worthing; brother, Donald Rawlings; parents, Gerald and Elizabeth Rawlings.
Jack was active in his community and always generous with his time. He served as Fife Lake Township supervisor for eight years and was a driving force in establishing the Civic Center South in Kingsley. He was formerly Assistant Director of the Grand Traverse County Rural Fire Department.
As a proud member of American Legion Post #436 , he served as Adjutant for many years and was the current Treasurer. Jack continued to represent his country as a member of the American Legion Color Guard, marching every Memorial Day at Evergreen Cemetery and at Kingsley High School Graduations.
The memories of his irrepressible smile and sense of humor, generosity, and love of family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Contributions in Jack's name may be designated to a charity of your choice.
