J. Frederick Kirkpatrick, 92, of Kalkaska, died Wed, May 28, 1997, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. 

Mr. Kirkpatrick was a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, and a 1922 graduate of Rapid City High School. He later attended Ferris State University and Michigan State University. For 27 years, he owned and operated Kirkpatrick Dairy in Kalkaska, and was then employed for 20 years as a salesman at Henderson Realty. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was active in Kalkaska Civic affairs. He was a member of the Kalkaska Church of Christ, a life member and former Past Master of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Kalkaska Area Chamber of Commerce, and member and former secretary of the US 131 Association. He served as the first president of the Kalkaska Industrial Development Corporation, and was the area representative for the Salvation Army. 

Mr. Kirkpatrick was born in Clearwater Township on Sep 5, 1904, to D. Reid and Esteem Snell Kirkpatrick. On Jun 20, 1953, in Kalkaska, he married Leone Anderson who preceded him in death on Oct 17, 1993. 

Surviving are a brother, Walter Kirkpatrick of Bellaire; sister Margaret K Sieting of Kalkaska; a niece and four nephews. 

Sisters, Irene Koepele and Katherine Kirkpatrick, and a brother David Kirkpatrick, preceded him in death. 

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Kalkaska Church of Christ. E. Dan Johnson officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska. 

Memorial gifts may be made to the missionary work of the Kalkaska Church of Christ or Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Long Term Care Unit.
