Ivan William Burgess of Fife Lake died Tuesday, Jan 1, 2002 at home after a long illness, surrounded by his family. He was 71.
He was born Dec. 27, 1930 in Manton to Edward and Florence (Smith) Burgess. He married Sara Thorburn in 1950.
Mr. Burgess lived in the Grand Rapids area for 29 years before moving to Fife Lake. He enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He found pleasure in watching the birds at the feeder and looked forward to the first snow. He loved God, family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Ivan (Karen) of Fife Lake, Patricia Poling of Walker, Kathleen (Terry) Hulett of South Boardman, Kenneth (Vickie) of Interlochen and Annette (Rob) Hulett of Kingsley; siblings, Lawrence (Adie), Edna (Harold) Beals, Linda (Larry) Cornell, Grace Tracey and Helen Wilkins; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norman, Irvie and Alvin; sister, Myrna Cook; and granddaughter, Angela.
Services are 3 p.m. Friday at Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley. Burial will be in Clark Cemetery, Springfield Township, Fife Lake. Visitation is 1 p.m. until time of services on Friday.
