Henry W Pitz, 84, of Fife Lake, died Tue, Apr 17, 2001, at Munson Medical Center. 

A lifelong resident of Kalkaska County, Mr. Pitz retired 19 years ago from Camp Grayling. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII, and enjoyed hunting and gardening. 

He was born in Kalkaska County Nov 4, 1916, to Christ and Pearl Spurgeon Pitz. He married Betty Nordenberg in Kalkaska Mar 26, 1949. She preceded him in death on Dec 23, 1993.

Surviving are sons Leslie of Grand Rapids, Richard and Chris, both of Fife Lake, Kenneth (Lori) of Lake City, and Andy of Kingsley; daughter Wanda (Cliff) Kenel of Mancelona; sisters, Freida Perengo of Washington, Nonnie Hutchinson of Lake City, and Eldena Perry of Sand Lake; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. 

Sisters Emma Sloat, Annie Cunningham and Mable Imhausen and brothers Fred, Wilbur and Bob Pitz preceded him in death. 

Funeral services were Apr 20 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska; Rev Howard Hardy officiated. Burial was in Garfield Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County. 

Military rites were held under the auspices of Land O'Lakes VFW Post 8684.
