Helen Lowery, 68, died Thursday evening a Munson Medical Center in Traverse City after a three month illness. Born Dec. 18, 1930 in Winn, Ark, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Eda (Morris) Waggoner. On June 21, 1958, in Okemos, she married Lloyd Lowery.
Helen grew up in Pocahontas, Ark, and moved to Lansing when she was 15. After her marriage, she lived in Warren and Clarkston before retiring to Fife Lake in 1987. A member of the Walton Junction Sportsman Club, she was also an avid bowler. Helen enjoyed traveling, flowers, and her family.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd of Fife Lake; four children, Gloria (Robert) Slizak of Clinton Township, Fred (Becky) Cribley of Lowell, Barbara Pels of Euless, Texas, and Mitchell Lowery of Livonia; three sisters, Betty Sulcer of Dimondale, Jackie (William) Elya of Fife Lake, and Mary (Gary) Becraft of Fenwick; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Lowery.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Chapel in Manton. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home; the Rev. Richard Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Clark Cemetery in Fife Lake. Memorial tributes may be made to the American Cancer Society.
