Helen C. Chwastek, 87, of Kalkaska, died Mon, Jun 12, 2000, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Mrs. Chwastek moved to Kalkaska County in 1955 from Detroit. she was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church and the Coldsprings Excelsior Taxpayers Association. She enjoyed cooking and her family and friends.
Mrs. Chwastek was born in Detroit on Nov 12, 1912, daughter of the late Peter and Katherine Ivaneczko Niemiec. She married Alexander Chwastek in Detroit on May 27, 1933. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1979.
Surviving are son Edward Chwastek of Kalkaska; the daughter Arlene Gutowski of Dearborn; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Son Robert, brother Joseph Niemiec, and sisters Gladys Wysocki, Mary Perdue, and Louise Manga preceded her in death.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jun 15, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church with Father Arockiasamy Arulandu as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery.
The rosary was recited Jun 14 at Wolfe Funeral Home.
Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska.
