Hazel C. Lyon, 97, of Kalkaska passed away peacefully on Dec 11, 2005, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center - Long Term Care Center.
Born on Feb 25, 1908, in Hillsdale County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Eleanor (Consalus) Thomas.
Hazel married Ray Lyon on Oct 1, 1927, in Hillsdale. Together, they farmed in the early 1940s through the 1960s. Hazel enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening, flowers, picking blackberries, and making maple syrup. She loved her family dearly.
Surviving Hazel are her children, James (Duane) Croll of Jonesville and James R. Lyon of Kalkaska; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; and dear friend, Wilma Birdsall of Kalkaska.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lyon; and sisters, Carolyn Cornell and Bertha Thomas.
Visitation will be on Fri, Dec 16 from 6 to 8 pm at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. The funeral service will be on Sat, Dec 17 at 1 pm at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Karges officiating. Burial will be at Star Township Cemetery in Alba in the spring.
