Hattie Doorlag Irwin, of Kalkaska, went home to be with the Lord on Oct 9, 2011. She was born on May 1, 1929 in Kalamazoo to the late Henry and Rikste (Engberts) Doorlag.
Hattie married Howard Irwin in Angola, IN on Mar 28, 1953. Hattie was a Red Cross volunteer for 30 years in Kalamazoo at the Borgess Hospital. She and Howard moved to the Kalkaska area 15 years ago. Hattie was member of the Bear Lake Christian Church. She loved spending time with her family.
Hattie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Howard; her children, Sherry Hoyt of Kalkaska and Larry (Linde) Irwin of Bloomingdale; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters; six brothers; and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her stepson, Bruce Irwin; and four brothers.
A memorial service will be held to honor Hattie on Sat, Oct 15, 2011 at 2 pm at Bear Lake Christian Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will immediately follow the service.
Gifts may be given in Hattie's memory to the Bear Lake Christian Church Benevolence Fund.
