Harry Blomster, 52, Kalkaska's first foreign exchange student, died Sun, Sep 24, 1995 in Helsinki, Finland of complications following routine surgery. 

Harry came to Kalkaska from Tampere, Finland in August of 1960 to live with Mr. and Mrs. Harold J Belcher and Larry. He graduated from Kalkaska High School in 1961 and returned to Finland in August of 1961. Harry made many friends while in Kalkaska through school and his work at Glen's Market. 

Upon his return to Finland, Harry went on to lead a very successful business life, which he partially credited to his experiences from Kalkaska and America. He worked many years for ARABIA of FINLAND, makers of ceramic fixtures, dinnerware, dishes, and art objects, eventually becoming president. Upon his death, he was president of Envirovac Corporation (E-Vac), with offices and subsidiaries throughout Europe, the Far East and the United States. E-Vac specializes in vacuum toilet systems found in the airline and cruise ship industries. Prior to becoming president of E-Vac, he was vice president for management development for the METRA Corporation, parent company of both ARABIA and E-VAC. harry also served on the board of directors of various other companies and financial institutions. 

Harry is survived by his wife Harriett, daughters, Tova, Susan, and Nina and sons Patrick and Kenneth of the Helsinki area, daughter Martina of Stockholm, Sweden and five grandchildren. 

Because of his extensive business travels, harry was able to maintain close contact with his American family and friends, by whom he will be sadly missed. 

Cremation has taken place and funeral services and burial will be held Oct 7, 1995 in Kyrkslatt, Finland.
