Dr. Guy L (Doc) Arnold, passed away Sat, Nov 7, at Munson Medical Center. 

He was born Sep 29, 1943, in Detroit to Guy and Margaret (Young) Arnold. 

Guy married Kathleen Morse on Jul 26, 1986. Together they had three children, Julia (Kendall) Troyer of Watervliet, MI, Matthew (Cindy) Hayden of St Andrews West, Ontario, and Maghan Elizabeth Arnold, still at home. 

Guy also has six grandchildren: Tyler, Mattie, Ellie, and Ezra Troyer; and Samuel and Oscar Hayden.

Additionally surviving Guy are four nieces, two nephews, and his siblings, Gery (Tom) Kartes of Grand Rapids, and Geoff (Vivian) Arnold of Traverse City. 

After graduating from Redford High School in 1961, Guy entered Wayne State University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree.

From there, he entered Michigan State University and, in 1969, graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. In 1969, he was drafted to serve in the US Army - where he obtained the rank of Captain in the Veterinary Corps. Guy was stationed in DaNang, Vietnam, and served there for a year. He was passionate about the effects of Agent Orange and all the chemicals used in Vietnam. 

After Vietnam, Guy worked for the State of Michigan as a veterinarian. In the 1980s, eh had a small practice at Blue Lake - and in Kalkaska at Pets and Things. 

Guy's failing health forced him to retire in 1999, when he found out he was suffereing from end stage renal disease, due to diabetes. 

Throughout his life, the doctor exhibited a great love for all of God's creatures. He truly enjoyed his four legged clients and their owners. 

Camping in the UP with his family, fishing, and wood carving brought Buy great joy. He was also extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. 

The family would like to thank Dialysis Services of Gaylord VA Clinic Gaylord and the medical staff at Munson Medical Center.

Family will receive friends on Sat, Nov 14 from 1 to 4 pm at Coldsprings Christian Fellowship Church. 

Arrangements have been handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
