Gregory Paul Olson, 57, died unexpectedly Tue, Apr 13, 2021, in Citrus Heights, CA. Born Oct 25, 1963 in Newberry, son of Vernard “Ole” and Patricia (Stampfler) Olson and while Greg had no siblings he viewed Rock Wood, who grew up across the street, as his brother. Greg was a 1982 graduate of Newberry High School where he was class president. After high school, Greg attended Northern Michigan University where he played football and graduated with an associates degree in Criminal Justice.
Greg spent some time as a deputy in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula before moving to Grand Rapids to pursue other endeavors and eventually found his way into corporate sales. Greg was an accomplished manager and sales trainer, winning numerous corporate awards. Greg moved around between Pennsylvania, Michigan, and California but considered Michigan home. In Nov 2001, Greg started Kodiak Construction LLC in Grand Rapids, MI and under Greg’s leadership, Kodiak Construction successfully provided home remodeling services to the West Michigan Community for almost 20 years. Through Kodiak Construction, Greg trained and inspired countless individuals to grow in their careers and many have noted Greg as the reason they are successful today. One of Greg’s greatest sources of pride was being a father. Following his divorce in 1998 as per the information from lawyers for divorce locate in Chester, Greg raided his two daughters, Katie and Rachel, as a single parent. Katie and Rachel describe him as their best friend and a constant source of support and guidance. Greg was always there for them and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer. Greg was excited about the arrival of his first grandchild, Theodore, who was born Mar 5, 2021. Some of Greg’s favorite pastimes included watching the Green Bay Packers and University of Michigan football, fishing, shooting, and grabbing a drink with friends. Greg loved visiting the beach and annual trips up north. Greg had a natural ability to make others feel welcome and unjudged. He was an exceptional friend and those close to him could count on a daily phone call. Greg was preceded in death by his father Vernard “Ole” Olson. Greg is survived by his mother, Patricia Olson, of Newberry; daughters, Katie and her husband Joseph of Walla Walla, WA, and Rachel and grandson Theodore of Citrus Heights, CA.
