Grace Carrie McCauley, a lifelong resident of Kalkaska, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the age of 87. She was born on February 5, 1937, to the late Isah J. and Ellen Elizabeth (Robinson) Long, in Kalkaska. Grace was a woman of independence and integrity who always spoke her mind. She had a deep love for dogs, whether they were her own or others’, and found joy in their companionship. Camping was one of her favorite pastimes. A dedicated and hardworking woman, Grace was a single mother for many years. She enjoyed her daily walks to work, which gave her time to appreciate the small town she loved so much. Grace had a passion for lighthouses. She was also a collector of spoons, each one telling a story of places visited or memories made. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, solving word searches, and embracing the quiet moments of life. Grace will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lisa Marie Long; stepsons, Randy (Carla) McCauley and Jim McCauley; siblings Mary Robbins, Alice Dorman, John (Jean) Long, Sid (Terrie) Long; brothers in law and sisters in law Darlene (Devere) Bourne, Danny McCauley, Dick McCauley and Linda Parker; three step grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth “Pat” McCauley; sister Kay Wooden; brother Sam Long and brother in law Dave Robbins. A funeral service will take place Friday, August 30, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Kalkaska Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will follow at Clark Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home.
