Gordon D. Aldridge, 85, a lifelong resident of South Boardman, died Sun morning, May 21, 1989 at his residence.

Mr. Aldridge owned and operated Aldridge’s Store in South Boardman from 1927 to 1968, and was a former Clerk of Kalkaska County. He had served on the Board of Directors of the Antrim County State Bank, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a charter member of the Boardman Area Senior Citizens Club, and a member of the South Boardman United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing baseball.

Mr. Aldridge was born in Fife Lake on August 29, 1903, to Eldridge and Blanche Mills Aldridge. On August 11, 1929, in South Boardman, he was married to Gretchen Niehardt who survives.

Also surviving, are one son, David Aldridge of Frankfort; one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Nancy) Schneider of Manistee; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Mary Woodhams; and one granddaughter, Marcia Smires, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 2pm Wed, May 24, 1989, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Gary Wales, pastor of South Boardman United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in Boardman Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
