George "Maurice" Ehl, 95 of Kalkaska, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center – LTC. He was born on June 12, 1916 in Flint, the son of the late John and Mary (Blaney) Ehl.

Maurice was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army. He received a purple heart at the Battle of the Bulge, 3rd Armor Spear Head Division. Maurice retired from Wayne Wire after 30 years of service. His hobbies included being in the "great outdoors" and his family. Maurice was a member of the VFW Post 8684.

Surviving Maurice is his wife, Eleanor of 65 years; his children, Dennis Ehl of Torch River and Jan Ehl; his sister, Janice Armstrong- Bateman of Morrice; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Maurice in death are his brothers, Edward Barney Ehl, John Lawrence "Jack" Ehl, and Donald Ehl.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 3rd at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Lodi Cemetery in the spring.

Memorials may be given to the Kalkaska Animal Shelter, 605 N. Birch St., Kalkaska, MI 49646.
