Mrs. Genevieve Shaffer, 88, of Kalkaska, died Sunday, November 11, 1990, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Mrs. Shaffer had been a resident of Kalkaska since 1920, and was a former assistant cashier of the Kalkaska State Bank. She was a member of the Peoples Church, the Women's Fellowship, and had served as church organist. She was a longtime member of Columbia-Elona Chapter 99 O.E.S., and enjoyed reading and music.
Mrs. Shaffer was born in Bay County on Aug. 15, 1902 to Wilmer and Mae Winters Ragan. She was married to Rufus Shaffer in Kalkaska on June 21, 1969. He died on June 8, 1974.
Surviving are two sons, Gordon A. Montgomery of Twin Harbors, MN, and Donald J. Montgomery of El Cajon, Calif.; two daughters, Martha Mae Montgomery of Farmington Hills, and Ruth Montgomery of Traverse City; one brother, James Ragan of Traverse City; one sister, Edna Waite of Traverse City; 13 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, Nov 14, 1990, at The Peoples Church in Kalkaska.
