Funeral services will be held Fri afternoon at 2pm at the Bostick chapel in Manton for Gary Lee Loper, 12, of Manton, child singer known as the “Wolverine Buddy” who died here unexpectedly Tue at the Osteopathic hospital where he had been a patient for a few days.

The youth was taken ill three years ago and since then his talent had been limited to church and gospel work. Born in Pontiac, Mar 12, 1941, the son of Mr. and Mrs. B.K. Loper, he began his career at the age of three years. At that time he entertained soldiers stationed at Fort Kansas, while his father was in service there. He continued his singing after moving to Manton with his parents when five years old.

Surviving besides his parents are a grandfather, JR Loper of Central Lake, and other relatives. An infant brother preceded him in death.
